The Federal Government will allocate funds in the 2025 budget based on a needs assessment and the prioritization of essential projects and agencies, according to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. He made this statement while speaking with journalists following a one-day fact-finding tour of government agencies under the State House, Abuja, on Thursday,Daily Trust reports.

Gbajabiamila emphasized that due to limited resources, it is crucial to prioritize spending. He explained that budget allocations to agencies will be determined by their actual requirements and needs.

“In every country, resources are finite. Our focus is on prioritizing. Where do we stand currently? What have these agencies achieved? How well have they fulfilled their mandates, and how important are those mandates in relation to the administration’s vision and the Renewed Hope Agenda?” he said.

He also noted that many agencies are underfunded and questioned whether some should be merged or scrapped. “I’m not referring to the State House agencies. In 2025, our budget will be informed by a needs assessment, not prepared in isolation,” he added.
