Opposition political parties in Bauchi state have been advised to be guided by the provisions of Electoral Act and warn their supporters against vandalizing billboards, posters and other campaign materials belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Apex News Exclusive reports.
The advice became necessary towards ensuring a peaceful conduct of the 2023 General elections.
The assertion was made by the Director General of Bauchi State PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Honourable Faruq Mustapha who expressed confidence that the party has the capacity of winning elections without causing public disorder through sponsoring activities of political thugs during electioneering campaigns.
Farouk Mustapha gave the advice while interacting with Government House Correspondents at the new PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Office along Ahmadu Bello Way, Bauchi on Monday.
He said that campaigns should be done in a responsible manner and should be issues-based rather than character assassination and personal insults and degradation.
He also maintained that electorates can only be convinced through constructive criticism not condemnation and vandalizing opposition’s properties.
According to him, the laudable projects executed by Governor Bala Mohammed led administration across all the twenty local government areas of the state are enough to campaign for the Governor and all PDP candidates.
He argued that the APC Gubernatorial Candidate lacks the needed knowledge of the geographical areas of the state as well as the challenges affecting the state noting that electing such candidate would constitute great setback in the move to reposition the state.
The Director General of the campaign council emphasized that it is high time to focus on issue based politics, not blind criticisms and mischief-making.
He used the opportunity to announce that PDP has concluded arrangements to commence mobilization of voters from Polling Units to Ward levels as part of it’s 2023 campaign plan.
