Dr. Umar Abdulahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Alliance (APC), highlighted the missed opportunity for the South East region to secure the presidency during Dr. Alex Ekwueme’s tenure as vice president. Speaking at a mega empowerment rally organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in Nnewi, Anambra State, Ganduje emphasized the importance of the South East aligning with the APC and electing governors from the party across all five states,Daily Trust reports.

He recounted how, during Ekwueme’s vice presidency under Shehu Shagari, there was a strong indication that Ekwueme could have succeeded Shagari as president had the military coup not intervened. Ganduje stressed the significance of political affiliation with the ruling party as a means to end marginalization.

Impressed by the massive turnout at the empowerment rally and Senator Ubah’s mobilization efforts, Ganduje expressed confidence in the readiness of the South East to engage in mainstream politics.
