The Kano State Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the Recovery of Misappropriated Public Property and Assets has announced its plan to scrutinize the sale, disposal, or allocation of government property during the previous administration in the state,Daily Trust reports.
Justice Farouk Adamu, the chairman of the commission, made this declaration during the inaugural session held yesterday in Kano. Governor Abba Yusuf inaugurated the commission on April 4 to probe suspected instances of misappropriation of public property and assets from 2015 to 2023, under Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.
Justice Farouk outlined that the commission’s scope includes examining the sale of various government-owned properties such as praying grounds, historical and cultural sites, monuments, residential houses, workshops, graveyards, and other urban lands or spaces. The objective is to ascertain any potential irregularities during these transactions and identify accountable individuals.

He emphasized that the commission’s purpose is not to target or prosecute individuals but to conduct a factual investigation. Justice Farouk assured impartiality and fairness to all parties involved and encouraged individuals with pertinent information to provide written submissions for validation and possible testimony during the commission’s proceedings.
