The Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, has overseen the distribution of zakkat, both in cash and grains, valued at over N60 million to more than 10,000 individuals in need. A press statement issued at the conclusion of the distribution exercise, signed by Alhaji Bala Muhammad, the chairman of the Zakkat Committee, provided details of the initiative,Daily Trust reports.
According to Muhammad, the distribution took place in the 10 District area of the emirate after a thorough enumeration of beneficiaries. The recipients comprised destitute households, widows, orphans, individuals with mental challenges, the physically challenged, and other vulnerable segments of society.
“Included among the beneficiaries are those requiring a modest sum to initiate or resume their small-scale businesses, which have been their means of sustenance over the years, as well as those unable to settle their medical expenses,” he explained.

Muhammad emphasized that the zakkat funds were sourced from contributions by farmers and affluent individuals within the emirate, and the distribution adhered to the prescribed guidelines outlined in the Holy Quran.
“We also encourage other well-to-do individuals to channel their zakkat through this committee, which is well-structured and extends its reach to the grassroots, ensuring that assistance is provided to the deserving recipients in an organized manner,” he added.
