Justice Aisha Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court has directed the Commissioner of Police in Kano to evict Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano,Daily Trust reports.

Court documents obtained by Daily Trust reveal that the judge issued an order restraining the first to fifth defendants, their agents, and anyone acting on their behalf from presenting themselves as the Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye until the hearing and resolution of the motion filed by the applicants.

The judge’s order specifically requires the Commissioner of Police in Kano State to immediately take control of the Emir of Kano’s palace on State Road, Kano, and remove the first defendant from the premises pending the court’s decision on the motion dated May 24, 2024.

Additionally, the court has prohibited the first to fifth defendants from claiming the titles of Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye to maintain peace in Kano until the motion is resolved.

The court mandated that the 15th defendants be served through the Commissioner of Police, Kano State, who is responsible for ensuring the court’s order is promptly executed.

The respondents in this case include the deposed Emirs of Karaye, Gaya, Bichi, Rano, and Kano, as well as the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the DSS, the NSCDC, and the Army. The applicants are the Attorney General of Kano State, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, and the Kano State House of Assembly.

According to Daily Trust, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, informed the BBC that the state government received an earlier order from a Federal High Court preventing the Emir’s reinstatement after actions had been taken on Monday.
