Former aviation minister Hadi Sirika, alongside his daughter Fatima, Jalal Hamma, and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, faced charges of abuse of office totaling N2.7 billion, brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory High Court,Daily Trust reports.

The court, on Thursday, granted them bail at N100 million each, stipulating that they must provide two sureties with landed properties in Abuja, who must be responsible citizens and depose to affidavits of means.

The defendants were also barred from international travel without court permission. Failure to meet bail conditions would result in remand in prison.

Sirika’s detention by the EFCC in April, related to the Nigeria Air project, alleged conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds, and contract inflation during his tenure as aviation minister, was previously reported by Daily Trust. Sirika, a former member of the House of Representatives and later a senator for Katsina North Senatorial District, served under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
