Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has distributed checks to ten inaugural beneficiaries of the Nigeria Army Personal Insurance Scheme. This initiative, which involved presenting checks to the next of kin (NOKs) of fallen heroes, aims to provide financial security and assistance to the families of personnel who lost their lives while in active service,leadership reports.

Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized that this gesture reflects the Nigeria Army’s deep appreciation for the dedicated service and sacrifices made by its personnel in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also reaffirmed the commitment and capabilities of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army (NA) in collaboration with sister services and other security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment conducive to good governance and socio-economic development.

The COAS presented the checks and conveyed this affirmation on Thursday, September 14, 2023, during the closing ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Combined Second and Third Quarters Conference 2023, held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1 in Asokoro, Abuja.

General Lagbaja stressed that the briefings and presentations delivered during the conference have underscored the tasks at hand and illuminated the challenges facing the NA. He called upon all formation Commanders to align their capabilities to deliver a decisive blow against the nation’s adversaries.

Furthermore, he noted that the impactful decisions made during the conference would propel the Army to redefine its training and operational activities in order to achieve desired outcomes. General Lagbaja emphasized that the conference provided an essential platform for the review of the Nigerian Army’s training, operational, and administrative activities directly related to national security.
