Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has initiated a cooperative endeavor with the Hadejia Jama’are Kumadugu Yobe River Basin to enhance the socio-economic well-being of the communities located alongside the river,Daily Trust reports.
Representatives from the six states encompassed by the Hadejia Jama’are Kumadugu Yobe River Basin Trust Fund congregated in Damaturu, Yobe State, for a workshop dedicated to consolidating knowledge and taking actionable steps toward revitalizing the basin.

In his introductory remarks, Governor Buni underscored the workshop’s significance in addressing the current challenges confronting the river basin and the livelihoods of millions of people residing along its expanse, not only in Nigeria but also in the broader region.
While expressing a commitment to supporting security agencies in countering insurgency in Yobe, Governor Buni reiterated his administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the basin’s sustainability. This commitment focuses on boosting economic activities for the communities dwelling along the river through various strategic interventions.
