The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Class of 1992 has donated ₦2 million to assist students at the university and ₦1.2 million to support patients at the Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital (AKTH). The donations were part of activities marking the class’s 32nd Anniversary Reunion, held on Friday in Kano,Daily Trust reports.
The Vice-Chancellor of BUK, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, received the cheque and commended the alumni for their consistent commitment to supporting undergraduates. Speaking at the 9th Alumni Dinner, the Chairman of BUK Class of ’92, Muhammad Dahiru Sa’ad, highlighted the significance of the annual event.
“This is an opportunity for us to reconnect with our alma mater and give back to society. We presented ₦2 million to assist indigent students and allocated ₦1.2 million to 15 patients in critical need of medical care at AKTH,” Sa’ad said. He noted that the reunion, which has run for nine consecutive years, focuses on collaboration, support, and sustainable contributions.

He added, “Our collective efforts make a meaningful impact, and we are exploring potential investment opportunities to sustain our contributions for the university and the community.”
Engr. Rakiya Abubakar, Vice Chairperson of the Abuja Chapter of BUK ’92, emphasized the importance of fostering unity through regular gatherings and encouraged members in other states to establish similar chapters for enhanced networking and humanitarian efforts.
Mr. Yushau Shuaib, Managing Director of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, applauded the group’s dedication to societal and human capital development.
“I commend those who have extended their support beyond alumni activities, helping families and communities. Many members are using their positions to serve the greater good,” Shuaib remarked.
The BUK Class of 1992, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022, is recognized as one of the most active alumni associations in Nigeria. Since its formation in 2016, the group has made contributions valued at over ₦100 million.
Vice-Chancellor Abbas urged other alumni groups to emulate the Class of ’92, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in promoting education and providing opportunities for underprivileged students.
