The Federal Government has announced that the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) will be renamed Yakubu Gowon University,leadership reports.
This decision was disclosed by the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, during a briefing with State House correspondents on Monday, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
The renaming honors Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), in celebration of his recent 90th birthday.
According to Idris, the proposal will be submitted to the National Assembly for formal approval.
