President Bola Tinubu has appointed Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS),Daily Trust reports.

This announcement was made on Monday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media & Publicity.

Ajayi takes over from Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.

In addition, Ngelale announced that President Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), succeeding Ahmed Abubakar, who resigned over the weekend.

“Ambassador Mohammed has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995. He has held various roles, rising to the rank of Director and eventually being appointed as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya.”

A graduate of Bayero University, Kano, in 1990, Ambassador Mohammed has served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja, the statement noted.

Mr. Adeola Ajayi, the new DSS Director-General, has risen through the ranks to his most recent position as Assistant Director-General. Over the years, he has served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

Ngelale mentioned that these new appointments follow the resignations of the previous NIA and DSS chiefs.

“President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work diligently to reposition the two intelligence agencies for improved outcomes. He urges them to leverage their experience in addressing the country’s security challenges through enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and in close alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).”

The President also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors.
