Tension flared at the Twon Brass jetty in the Brass local government area of Bayelsa State on Thursday as officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were unloading election materials. The conflict arose due to a misunderstanding between supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the storage location for the election materials,Daily Trust report.
In the midst of the altercation, Bara Daniel, the PDP Chairman for Brass Local Government Area, reportedly sustained injuries during the scuffle. While APC supporters, allegedly led by Victor Isaiah, a former Local Government Chairman, were accused of the assault, Isaiah denied any involvement, attributing the situation to the purported unruly behavior of Mr. Daniel, who he claimed was intimidating APC supporters on how to secure the election materials.

“I was present to monitor the materials’ offloading process, but the PDP chairman kept making derogatory statements that unsettled some people. However, I managed to calm the situation,” Isaiah stated.

Condemning the attack, Mr. Alabo Hanson Karika, the Chairman of Brass Local Government Area, urged security agents to remain vigilant to prevent further acts of violence.
