As the World Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day, Nigerians have been enjoined to conserve and protect their natural habitat and environment from degradation.
The Zonal Coordinator Nigerian Conservation Foundation NCF Muhammad Garba Boyi made the call at an event to commemorate 2022 World Migratory Day held at AD Rufai College of Education Misau .
Muhammad Boyi explained that this will change environmental disasters saying that the natural resources, species and habitat are gradually fading out, adding that adequate measures should be taken to protect the environment.
He pointed out that those natural species are used as remedies for human consumption and medication hence the need for all as sundry to contribute their quota towards protecting and preserving the environment.
The Zonal Coordinator said the foundation with partner AD Rufai College of Education and the Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation on the training and retraining personnel.
Earlier, the provost AD Rufai College of education and legal studies Misau Dr, Auwal Amba who was represented by the deputy provost sulaiman Wakili commend the organiser for establishing a Conservation club in the institution saying that it would go a long way in safeguarding the environment and urged the students to protect their environment.
In a remark, the Commissioner Tourism and Culture Bauchi Dr. Asmau Ahmad who said every 29th October has been set aside by United Nation to celebrate the day is apt to educate people on the need to preserve the environment.
The Commissioner who was represented by the General Manager Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation, Malam Muhammad Nasir Yusuf, called on Nigerians to reawaken their consciousness towards contributing immensely to conserving the environment as Government has invested a lot towards conserving the environment.
A Conservation club has been established in the college to help disseminate information to the students on the importance of protecting the environment and natural habitat.
