The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Isyaku Babale, aged 30, from Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi Metropolis, on suspicion of fatally stabbing his brother,Punch reports.
According to SP Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, the arrest followed a report received by the Divisional Police Officer of Township Police Station, Bauchi. Detectives swiftly responded to the scene where they found the victim and rushed him to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead by a medical professional.
The detectives launched a manhunt and successfully captured the suspect near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis. Initial investigations unveiled that the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab his elder brother during a dispute on March 31, 2024, around 4:00 a.m.

The altercation erupted when the younger brother objected to his elder brother consuming cold patch liquid, commonly known as ‘Sholi,’ in their shared room due to its unpleasant odor. Tempers flared, leading to a physical confrontation. After a brief pause in the dispute, the suspect retrieved a sharp object believed to be a knife and inflicted a fatal wound on his sibling’s stomach.
Further inquiry revealed a history of recurrent violent confrontations between the brothers involving dangerous weapons.
Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa has instructed a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover any additional motives prompting the suspect’s actions before legal proceedings commence.
