ATBU Matriculates 4,364 Students for 2024/2025 Academic Session
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has officially matriculated 4,364 students into various academic programs for the 2024/2025 session,leadership reports.
During a brief ceremony held on Friday at the Yelwa Campus, the matriculation oath was administered by Barr. Zakariya Jubrin from the university’s Department of Law.
Speaking at the event, ATBU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, cautioned students against violating the university’s dress code, stressing that any form of indecent dressing would be met with disciplinary action.

“One key aspect of our university culture is our dress code. I urge you all to adhere to it, as it promotes modesty, respect, and professionalism. Your appearance represents not just you, but also the values and image of ATBU,” he stated.
Prof. Garba further emphasized that lecturers and other academic officials have been empowered to remove any student violating the dress code from lecture halls, regardless of their status.
Additionally, he reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy on cultism and other illicit activities, warning that anyone found involved in such groups would face expulsion and legal action.
“I must emphasize the importance of avoiding destructive behaviors such as drug abuse and cultism. These vices not only pose serious risks to your health and future but also undermine the core values of our institution. We will not tolerate them,” he declared.
He encouraged the newly admitted students to focus on their studies, develop their skills, and surround themselves with positive influences. He reminded them that the choices they make will shape their future and that ATBU is committed to supporting their academic and personal growth.
“As you embark on this journey, remember that ATBU is more than just an institution—it is a community built on excellence, integrity, and responsibility. We are dedicated to providing you with quality education, and in return, we expect you to uphold the highest standards of behavior and discipline,” he added.

- Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology – 207 students
- Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology – 854 students
- Faculty of Environmental Technology – 773 students
- Faculty of Management Sciences – 370 students
- Faculty of Science – 835 students
- Faculty of Technology Education – 345 students
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – 39 students
- Faculty of Computing – 599 students
- SPESSECE – 98 students
- College of Medical Sciences – 244 students
