All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State Chapter has okayed the membership of a former Bauchi State Governor Muhammed Abdullahi Abubakar (SAN) after leaders of the party at Makama Sarkin Baki Ward suspended him for alleged anti-party activities,Wikkitimes report.
APC Makama Sarkin Baki Ward, where the former governor hailed, had in a letter dated 14th December 2022 suspended Mr Mohammed, citing his open support for the reelection bid of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of PDP as a clear-cut anti-party activity contrary to the provisions of the constitution of the party.
In 2019, PDP’s Bala Mohammed defeated APC’s Mohammed at the polls to deny him second tenure after he was first elected governor in 2015.
Adamu Aliyu Jalla, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Bauchi, in a press statement made available to reporters on Friday said the State Working Committee of the party considered the purported suspension of Mr Mohammed null and void.
He said the former governor remains a legal APC member with all right and privileges that every member of the party is entitled to.
The Publicity Secretary said the suspension of Mr Mohammed violates fair hearing and necessary disciplinary processes and procedures laid down in the party’s constitution.
