Rwanda and Nigeria played to a goalless draw in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match on Tuesday in Kigali,Daily Trust reports.

Despite Nigeria’s impressive 3-0 victory over Benin Republic on Saturday, they were left frustrated by missed chances and the outstanding performance of Rwandan goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre.

The Amavubi started strong, buoyed by their home crowd, but the Super Eagles gradually took control, with Ademola Lookman posing a constant threat to Rwanda’s defense.

In the 20th minute, Wilfred Ndidi set Lookman through on goal, but his shot was denied by Fiacre. Just three minutes later, Lookman found the back of the net, but the goal was controversially disallowed by the referee.

Victor Boniface nearly broke the deadlock nine minutes before halftime, hitting the woodwork after being set up by Lookman.

At the start of the second half, Nigeria’s caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen, made two substitutions, bringing on Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon for Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze.

Nigeria created several chances after the break, but Fiacre’s heroics kept the scoreline level.

With this result, Nigeria now has four points from their first two games in the qualifiers. Their next match will be a home fixture against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights next month.
