The Borno State Police Command has arrested a woman named Fatima Abubakar for allegedly killing her husband Goni Abbah by poisoning his food.
The state police commissioner, Abdu Umar, disclosed this to the National News Agency (NAN) in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The commissioner said that the deceased – who is the imam of their neighborhood – returned from the mosque when the woman who is his second wife poisoned his food.
He continued that when the deceased started eating the food, he immediately went into a bad state, where he was immediately taken to the hospital to give him emergency care, but eventually he died.
The woman who is in police custody told NAN that she killed her husband because she was tired of the marriage.
She added that “I don’t want the marriage. Goni is my second husband, I divorced my first husband because I hate marriage”.
