The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended nine individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in Abuja,leadership reports.

The arrests took place on Monday in the Wuye area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following an intelligence-led operation by the Commission’s Abuja Zonal Directorate.

In a statement posted on Tuesday via its official X handle, the EFCC said, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Directorate, have arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters. They were apprehended on Monday, 29 July 2024, in the Wuye axis of Abuja following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related fraud.”

The statement listed items recovered from the suspects, including 19 phones, one car, four laptops, and one iPad.

The Commission also indicated its intention to pursue legal action against the suspects, stating, “The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
