A tragic incident occurred in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, where a police inspector (name withheld) reportedly took his own life,Daily Trust reports.
The deceased officer was assigned to the Gwange Divisional of the Borno Police Command.
Community sources revealed that just three days prior, the inspector appeared to be in good health.

The circumstances leading to the officer’s suicide remain unclear. Concerned neighbors residing in the Layin Bayan area of Wulari Jerusalem, Maiduguri, raised the alarm on Saturday morning upon noticing that his door was locked from inside and a peculiar odor emanated from within.
Promptly, the matter was reported to the metro Division of the Borno Police Command, leading to the deployment of officers to the scene.
“It was early this morning when people in the compound noticed a strange odor coming from his apartment; his door was shut from inside. Officers from the Metro and Gwange Divisions arrived to break the door, only to find his lifeless body on the bedroom floor. They are currently at the compound,” a source disclosed.
As of the time of reporting, police authorities had not released any official statement regarding the incident. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in Borno, ASP Kenneth Daso, proved unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered.
