The Kano State government has announced the reception of 195 truckloads of assorted grains from the Federal Government, intended for distribution across the state’s 44 Local Government Areas,Daily Trust reports.
This aid initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s palliative measures aimed at alleviating hardship, particularly during the Ramadan fasting period observed by Muslim faithful nationwide.
Speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, Sunusi Bature Dawakin, spokesperson for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, disclosed, “In addition to the federal government’s allocation, the state has also received 100 trucks carrying 25kg bags of rice, 44 trucks of Sorghum, 14 trucks of Millet, and 41 trucks of Maize, slated for distribution across the 484 wards spanning the state’s 44 local government areas within the week.”

Furthermore, Bature outlined ongoing efforts to secure an additional 132 trucks of 25kg rice bags for statewide distribution. He remarked, “In addition to the generous contributions from Alhaji Aliko Dangote and President Bola Tinubu, which were gratefully received, the state government, in collaboration with local administrations, is actively procuring these additional rice supplies to be distributed across the 44 local government areas throughout the Ramadan period.”
