A tragic incident unfolded in Kubwa town, FCT, where a 19-year-old secondary school student, Salma Yunusa, was fatally stabbed, allegedly by her co-tenant,Daily Trust reports.
Salma, who resided under the care of her elder sister, Bilikisu Yunusa, in the Byazhin area of the town, fell victim to the altercation. The suspect, identified as Immaculate Chukwudi, shared the same compound with them as a co-tenant.
According to Bilikisu, there was a dispute involving the suspect and another male tenant, referred to as Pastor. Bilikisu attempted to mediate, but tensions escalated.
Bilikisu recounted, “I witnessed the Pastor removing his clothes from the drying line prematurely, following the suspect’s demand. When I intervened, the suspect became hostile, accusing me of interference. Later that night, she brandished a knife, creating unrest in the house.”

The next morning, Bilikisu encountered further hostility when the suspect spat on the water she was fetching. Salma intervened, discarding the contaminated water, which irked the suspect. Subsequently, the suspect doused Salma with a bucket of water and fatally stabbed her in the chest.
Salma was rushed to Kubwa General Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police were alerted, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Salma was laid to rest in her hometown, Ajagwumu, Dekina LGA of Kogi State, last Wednesday.
Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were ongoing, with the suspect expected to face charges soon.
