Bayero University, Kano (BUK) management has refuted a social media publication alleging the presence of fake professors in Nigerian universities, with 20 purportedly associated with BUK. The management dismissed these claims as malicious, doctored, and false, capable of tarnishing the university’s esteemed reputation,leadership report.
Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, the Vice Chancellor, released a statement on Tuesday, terming the published allegations as baseless. He stated, “The malicious publication falsely asserted the discovery of 20 fake professors at BUK. We categorically reject the existence of such individuals in our renowned institution, as evidenced by recent global rankings from reputable university assessors.”
He emphasized that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had also refuted the presence of fake professors in Nigerian universities. The management clarified that the mentioned 20 fake professors are not affiliated with BUK and urged the public to dismiss the publication, attributing it to the imagination of the authors with an apparent intent to tarnish the reputation of Nigerian universities.
The statement highlighted BUK’s commitment to quality and standards, contributing to its recognition in global rankings. Recently, BUK achieved the 5th position in Nigeria for research, training, and academic program quality, as well as the 2nd position for international outlook according to the Times Higher Education. It was also recognized as the 3rd best Value University for international students by StudyAbroadAide in South Korea. The management urged the public to disregard the false publication and reiterated BUK’s dedication to maintaining high standards in education.
