Bandits, believed to be gunmen, have kidnapped Mr. Safiyanu Andaha, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government in Nasarawa State, along with others, including the well-known philanthropist Mr. Adamu Umar, also known as Maccido,Daily Trust reports.
The abduction occurred on Monday evening on the Andaha-Akwanga road. According to an anonymous close aide to the chairman, the gunmen emerged from the bush and forcefully took the victims to an undisclosed location.
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Nasarawa State Command, DSP Rahman Nansel, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached by phone, and there has been no response to a text message sent to him.
