President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern about the concerning number of out-of-school children in the country. During a meeting with members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos yesterday, the president emphasized the need to tackle this issue by establishing more schools, hiring teachers, and ensuring that each school child receives at least one daily meal. He underscored the importance of aligning these efforts with the progressive ideology the party aims to pursue,Daily Trust reports.
President Tinubu asserted that democracy should be progressive and inclusive, with a primary focus on effectively addressing poverty through the creation of job opportunities for youths and the provision of quality education for all Nigerian children. He voiced his support for the establishment of the National Institute of Progressive Studies by the party, emphasizing its role in conducting thorough research and educating party members on democratic principles and good governance while giving the party a distinctive identity.

The President urged the party’s leadership to target more youths and women in its ongoing e-registration and digital membership validation exercise, slated for completion in the first quarter of 2024. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, assured the President that the NWC is diligently planning for the success of the party in the upcoming bye-elections for National and State legislative houses scheduled for February 2024.
