Certain members of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Watch are urging the removal of Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd) from his position as the interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) due to alleged corruption, leadership reports.

In a statement provided to the press in Benin, the coordinator of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Watch, Onadigha Destiny Perewari Esq, and the secretary, Olu Priye Oyeh, called on President Bola Tinubu to initiate an investigation into Ndiomu’s activities, emphasizing that the agency has become a breeding ground for corruption.

When approached for comments on the allegations, Freston Akpo, the special adviser to the interim administrator, chose not to respond to the messages.

The group expressed concerns, stating, “Since assuming leadership of the amnesty office, the interim administrator’s activities have been marked by corruption. As a group, we strongly disapprove of the purported loan scheme introduced by the interim administrator. The cooperative loan itself appears to be a fraudulent initiative, lacking a clear-cut process for ex-agitators to access the supposed loan.”

The group also criticized the deployment of non-ex-agitator students to certain universities while some ex-agitators, who have sought educational opportunities since the inception of the Amnesty Programme, remain unassigned. They are calling for a committee to be established, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda of “Renewed Hope,” to investigate Maj. Gen. Barry Ndiomu (rtd) and advocate for his removal from office.
