Abdullahi Bego, the Yobe State Commissioner for Information, has announced Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s information sector to ensure that residents are well-informed about all developments. Bego emphasized the government’s intention to engage with the public in an honest and respectful manner, aiming to rebuild and strengthen the trust between the government and its people.
During his assumption of office as the commissioner for information, Bego acknowledged that the state’s information sector must keep pace with the constantly evolving and rapidly changing media landscape to make progress.

He noted, “The global media space, encompassing the physical and virtual realms, along with mindsets, technologies, and equipment, continues to evolve. To remain relevant and justify our presence, we too must continually evolve.”
Bego highlighted the need for significant improvements in state TV, radio services, and the State Printing Corporation, which currently operate with outdated technologies and equipment. He expressed his commitment to training and retraining personnel in the information sector, enhancing their abilities to disseminate information effectively, from basic news writing skills and grammar to creating engaging and captivating media content.
Furthermore, Bego stressed the importance of harnessing social media effectively in the state and educating young individuals, who are avid social media users, to discern and avoid fake news, misinformation, and disinformation.
