The 2023 Fiscal Transparency Index published by BudgiT, a Nigerian fiscal policy tracking organization, has ranked the Gombe State Government 6th out of the 36 states. The state achieved a score of 74/100. Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, emphasized that this ranking is a testament to the state’s commitment to transparent budgeting, procurement practices, and online fiscal reporting.
Misilli highlighted that the report showcases the state’s achievements across various vital domains, such as budget transparency, procurement transparency, the credibility of the state’s website, and fiscal transparency online. A notable achievement highlighted in the report is the state’s comprehensive and well-structured Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).

The report commends the Gombe State Government for meeting rigorous criteria in its approved budget and for the user-friendly accessibility of its e-procurement portal. Misilli emphasized that Governor Yahaya’s administration has effectively demonstrated its dedication to fiscal transparency and accountability, resulting in both national and international recognition.
Furthermore, it was noted that the state recently received multiple categories of the World Bank’s States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability, and Sustainability (SFTAS) award. These achievements, according to Misilli, validate the Governor Yahaya-led administration’s impactful endeavors in responsible management of public resources.
