A Yaba Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 38-year-old man, Humani Adamu, to two years’ imprisonment for stealing tiles and buckets of paint belonging to his employer, Emmanuel Ugwu, The Guardian can report.
Adamu, who was arraigned on one count of stealing, was said to have stolen and sold 221 tiles and 10 buckets of paint kept in his custody.
The convict, who initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, later changed his plea during trial.
The prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Oriabure, said the convict was arrested by the police on July 3, 2022, around 2pm after his employer made a formal complaint to the police.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs S.A. Salawu, said the prosecution proved the case beyond all reasonable doubt.
She subsequently sentenced the accused to two years imprisonment, adding that the prison term would run from the day of his arraignment.
