The Trump administration has officially blocked Harvard University from enrolling international students, according to a report by CNBC on Thursday,leadership reports.

This move marks a significant development in the ongoing legal dispute between the Ivy League institution and the federal government.

In a letter obtained by The New York Times, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem informed Harvard that its certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program had been revoked, effective immediately.

Noem had previously warned the university in April that its authorization to admit international students depended on adherence to federal immigration laws. At that time, she indicated that noncompliance could result in the loss of certification.
