The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the personal details of candidates contesting in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled for November 8, 2025,TheCable reports.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced that 16 political parties successfully submitted nominations for their governorship and deputy governorship candidates ahead of the May 12 deadline.
The published details, which include academic qualifications and other relevant documents, have been displayed at INEC’s state headquarters and all 21 local government offices across Anambra State.

“We urge Nigerians to carefully examine these documents. Any aspirant who participated in their party’s primaries and has valid reasons to believe that a candidate has submitted false information may challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court, as provided under Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022,” the statement noted.
INEC also confirmed that the final list of candidates will be released on June 9, 2025—at least 150 days before the election date—as stipulated in Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 and outlined in item 7 of the commission’s election timetable and schedule of activities.
The Anambra governorship election is set to take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
