Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the concerns of Nigerians, stating, “Your policies are ineffective, and people are suffering.,Daily Trust reports.

The governor made this appeal while receiving a delegation of Islamic scholars led by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir. He advised the president to heed the voices of the people and rectify past errors.

“I am not being disrespectful, nor is this arrogance. As leaders, we have a responsibility to speak the truth to one another. We are pointing out these issues so the president can make the necessary corrections. Nigerians are in distress, and we, the governors, are also struggling because of the president’s flawed policies,” Governor Mohammed said.

He cited the Tax Reform Policy as an example, explaining, “No government can function without revenue, but if revenue sources are blocked, the system becomes unmanageable. The suffering is evident. Yes, it’s true that there’s friction between us and the president because he hasn’t addressed these concerns.”

The governor emphasized the importance of Sheikh Jingir’s role in addressing the matter, saying, “I had planned to meet you regarding this issue. You are one of the few individuals who can directly approach the president and make him listen. He values your counsel.”
