The Jigawa State Government has identified 6,348 ghost workers through a staff verification exercise conducted across the state,Daily Trust reports.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Dutse, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, Mr. Sagir Musa, revealed the findings from the Statewide Staff Audit Biometric Data Capture and Validation Exercise. The exercise uncovered the ghost workers, resulting in monthly savings of over ₦314 million for the government.

According to Musa, the State Executive Council reviewed the audit report and approved the establishment of a Continuous Capture Centre (CCC) within the Office of the Head of Civil Service. The CCC aims to expedite the completion of the data capture and validation process as part of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Management System (IPPMS).

“The exercise identified 6,348 ghost workers, leading to a substantial cost saving of an average ₦314,657,342.06 per month, amounting to ₦3,775,888,809.72 annually,” Musa stated.
