Reports of armed robberies and thuggery have become increasingly prevalent, heightening fear and widespread concern among residents.

According to an eyewitness, Ibrahim Usman, the community has witnessed a surge in criminal activity, with robbers targeting students’ residences and commercial centres within the area.

Another resident, Sabo Bulama, said the most recent incident occurred on Tuesday night, when a group of robbers stormed a student lodge, making off with valuables while leaving several students injured.

A victim, Abubakar Mas’ud Nazir, who was robbed of his belongings, said that he sustained an injury in his hand when the robbers attacked him with a weapon, trying to collect his phone.

Residents have expressed concern about the area’s lack of effective policing, citing inadequate patrols and slow response at times.

Speaking on the unfortunate development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, assured residents that the command was taking the situation seriously.

He noted that adequate measures have been taken to detect and apprehend perpetrators of all sorts of crimes, adding that adequate strategies and personnel are being deployed to the community to ensure proper policing of the area.

SP Wakil further said the Police Command was collaborating with community leaders to establish a neighbourhood watch program in Wuntin Dada and its environs to safeguard the lives and property of innocent citizens.

Wakili further advised residents to remain security vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest security office for rapid response.
