The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has welcomed Alhaji Sani Abdulkadir Dambo, an aide to the Kano State Governor, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP),Daily Trust reports.

Dambo, who has twice served as Chairman of the Kano State Board of Internal Revenue, announced his defection from the NNPP to the APC during a visit to Senator Barau at his residence in Abuja on Monday.

Dambo, appointed as Special Adviser on Investment by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on August 13, officially declared his departure from the NNPP and expressed his commitment to the APC both in Kano and on a national level.

“I thank Almighty God for guiding me back home. I was originally part of the APC before joining the NNPP, but now I have returned,” Dambo said. “We will continue to support this journey and remain loyal to the APC at all levels. I will use my skills and expertise to ensure the success of the APC. I wish Senator Barau all the best and extend my regards to APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. May Almighty Allah continue to bless and guide them.”

Similarly, Alhaji Rabiu Alhassan Durum, a prominent figure from the NNPP in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, also joined the APC.

Senator Barau, who is also the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, praised both grassroots politicians for their decision to join the APC. He emphasized the APC-led Federal Government’s commitment to solving the nation’s challenges.

“These distinguished individuals have shown their dedication to the progress of our state and country. Their commitment reflects the APC’s core values of national transformation,” Barau said. “We will work together with them and all others who are genuinely dedicated to addressing the nation’s challenges in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
