President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has enacted a law establishing the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits for judicial office holders in Nigeria, along with related matters. The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja,Daily Trust reports.
In June, the National Assembly approved an executive bill sent by President Tinubu, which proposed a 300 percent salary increase for judicial officers. Senator Lado described the President’s signing of the bill as a significant achievement and a clear demonstration of his commitment to improving the welfare of Nigeria’s workforce.
The Senator also encouraged judicial office holders to intensify their efforts in ensuring swift and fair justice.
“This extraordinary action highlights Mr. President’s unwavering prioritization of Nigerian workers’ welfare, as evidenced when he recently interrupted a Federal Executive Council meeting to sign the new National Minimum Wage Bill of N70,000,” Lado stated.

He explained that the new Act updates the salaries, allowances, and benefits for judicial officers to reflect current realities. It also amends the Certain Political, Public, and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act, No.6, 2002, by removing the provisions related to judicial office holders.
Lado emphasized that this decision showcases President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and deep concern for the Nigerian people, reinforcing his dedication to ensuring that all salary earners, especially those in crucial roles, receive appropriate recognition and compensation.
