The Buji Local Government Council in Jigawa has confirmed the tragic death of a 30-year-old man and his two-year-old son following a building collapse in Madabe village,Daily Trust reports.

Alhaji Ali Safiyanu, the council’s Information Officer, shared the news with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday, stating that the boy’s 25-year-old mother survived the incident.

Safiyanu mentioned that the mother is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and is responding well.

He explained that the building collapsed on Sunday night during a heavy downpour.

Badaruddeen Tijjani, spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in the state, also confirmed the incident but was unable to immediately provide the names of the deceased and the survivor. He added that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

In related news, floods caused significant damage in the area between Thursday and Sunday, displacing around 400 households and destroying approximately 1,000 farms.
