Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has appointed a seven-member panel to join the joint committee investigating alleged economic sabotage in the petroleum and gas industry,Daily Trust reports.
This move comes after the recent dissolution of the ad hoc committee previously established by the House to investigate alleged infractions in the sector.
In a statement issued on Friday, House Spokesperson Akin Rotimi Jr. announced the appointments, naming House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere as the co-chairman of the committee.
The committee members include Hon. Iduma Ighariwey, Hon. Gboyega N. Isiaka, Hon. Sada Soli, Fatima Talba, Hon. Tunji Raheem, and Hon. Patrick Umoh, PhD.

“The urgency and significance of this issue necessitate close collaboration between the Senate and the House of Representatives,” the statement read.
“This new structure is designed to ensure synergy, a comprehensive approach to addressing the issues, and streamlined administrative coordination, resulting in a unified and effective investigation.”
The committee has been tasked with beginning its work immediately, with a mandate to ensure accountability and transparency in the sector.
