The Bauchi state Director General, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Hon Farouk Mustapha has cautioned the opposition All Progressives Congress APC to stop holding campaign rallies at night.

Hon. Farouk stated this while responding to questions from journalists after briefing them on the recent shooting of two persons in Akuyam during APC governorship campaign rally.

The PDP campaign Council which faulted the APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Ambassador Sadique Baba Abubakar for holding campaign rallies at night, opined that such is dangerous for everyone and that, it should be discouraged in the interest of peace.

Hon. Farouk Mustapha equally described as a normal thing in politics, the use of provocative songs in a bid by politicians to woo support from members of the public.

The DG said it is a normal thing in politics for people to openly show and demonstrate their love or otherwise to any political party at any given time.

Hon Farouk who said such action should not provoke any anger from the other party, stressed that campaign posters, songs, billboards and other materials should not scare any serious politician because such don’t win elections.

“You know that the APC gubernatorial candidate just removed his khaki uniform after 40 years of service, he is not used to such hues and cries of politics, the reason he is reacting negatively”, he said.

Hon. Farouk said there is nothing bad about songs and slogans being used by the political parties, adding that, each political party is trying to out-do each other in verbal war which is one of the beauties of democracy and electioneering campaigns.

The DG however assured that the PDP will continue to engage the people of the state in a civilized and polite way in selling its achievements within the last three years in order to win their confidence and be re-elected.

Hon Farouk who denied that the APC campaign train was attacked by anyone, challenged the APC to come out with strong evidence as prove to their claims.

“Having failed to win the confidence of the electorate, the APC could have stage-managed the attack in order to give opposition a bad name”, he alleged.

On the issue of burning brooms, Farouk said it was a normal thing, such that anyone who changed a political party will burn all the insignia of the former party.

“There is nothing wrong about that, PDP flags and umbrella too were burnt, it should not provoke anyone”, he said.

The DG while stating that the PDP members are law-abiding people who don’t engage in act of violence, maintained that none of the party’s boys have reacted violently against any of the APC provocations.

While urging PDP supporters not to be provoked in any way, Farouk said President Muhammadu Buhari in his recent visit to Bauchi publicly commended Governor Bala Mohammed for a job well done.
