There was confusion around Zaramaganda community in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Friday morning, following the discovery of a corpse of a young man by the residents, Punch reports.

It was gathered that the lifeless body of the young man was found lying on the ground along the Zaramaganda-Rayfield road with blood all over it.

Some residents of the community told newsmen that the deceased whose identity could not be ascertained as of press time was later removed by some persons believed to be his relatives before the arrival of security operatives who were alerted.

One of the residents who identified himself as Yusuf said, “I was passing this morning to my shop at Rayfield when I saw a young man laying on the ground with blood all over his body. He was stabbed all over his body. Other residents who also moved closer after raising an alarm discovered that the body was motionless and had no breadth in him.

“The security men were called immediately by those around but before the policemen arrived, some people who we believe knew the young man came and took him away to the mortuary after he was certified dead.”

The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, who also confirmed the incident on Friday said, “Yes, it’s true. We got a report of a corpse of a young man found in the Zaramaganda community. We deployed our officers to the scene but before they got there, some people said to be the relatives of the deceased came and took the corps away.

“So, our men are investigating the matter right now.”
