Ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Kogi State, many people were feared dead as a result of an explosion near Ohinoyi Ebira Palace, in Okene.

The explosion, according to eyeswitnesses happened in the early hours of Thursday as residents of the area awaits the arrival of the president who is expected to pay homeage to the palace.

President Buhari had commissioned some projects executed in the state.

Sources told BBC Hausa that the incident which claimed unspecified number of people happened near Okene Central Mosque adjacent to the palace.

Reports indicated that there is high deployment of security personnel at the scene of the blast.

Spokesman for Kogi Police Command, William Ovye Aya, did not answer several calls put to him by Wikkitimes and a text sent to him had not been responded to as of press time.
